Quincy Museum Open For Tours

Tuesday through Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 PM

The Quincy Museum will be open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Exhibits for 2018 include "Hidden Underfoot: Illinois Historic Archaeology" and "Historic Quincy Businesses." Also on the second floor is a fascinating exhibit featuring Motorola Radios and memorabilia collected by Olin Shuler. 

Continuing exhibits include our Native American exhibit which features artifacts from the Native Peoples of the Adams County region. The Native American room also includes hands on activities for children, including a life sized wikiup and costumes to try on. Also on the third floor are our Dinosaur  and  Mississippi Wildlife exhibits .

The first floor showcases the historic Newcomb-Stillwell Mansion with guided tours. Don't miss the chance to step back in time and wander through this beautiful Victorian home!

Admission to the museum is $5 for adults and $3 for children and students.

Father's Day Car Show

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Join the Quincy Museum and the Mississippi Valley Antique Auto Club for the annual Father's Day Car Show. Antique cars of all descriptions will be on display on the grounds of the museum during the afternoon. Food and beverages will be available for sale during the event. 

Admission to the Car Show is free. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $3 for children aged 3 and up and students with valid ID. Those showing cars will receive a coupon for one free admission. Members of the Quincy Museum receive free admission any time!

Annual Meeting of Members and Awards Ceremony

Dinner at 6:00 PM, Meeting to Follow

Join the membership of the Quincy Museum for our Annual Meeting of Members and Awards Ceremony. Dinner will be served at 6:00 with a brief business meeting to follow during which we will elect officers and members of the Board of Directors. Awards will be given to Museum Volunteers during the evening.

Elizabeth Newcomb -Stillwell's Classes for Young Ladies- Luciana

10:00 AM to Noon

Young ladies aged 8 and above are invited to attend our popular Classes for Young Ladies. This week, we will learn all about Luciana, the 2018 Girl of the Year. Join us for cooking, crafts and fun with science. This week-long class will be held daily from 10:00 AM until Noon. 

Classes cost $50 for Non-Members of the Quincy Museum and $40 for Museum Members. Please call the Museum at 217-224-7669 to register your child. Payment is due at time of registration. Class size is limited to 12 young ladies.

Elizabeth Newcomb-Stillwell's Classes for Young Ladies- Kit

10:00 AM to Noon

Young ladies aged 8 and above are invited to attend our popular Classes for Young Ladies. This week, we will learn about Kit, a young lady who makes the best of things and manages to have fun during the Great Depression. Join us for Depression era cooking, crafts and fun. This week-long class will be held daily from 10:00 AM until Noon.

Classes cost $50 for Non-Members of the Quincy Museum and $40 for Museum Members. Please call the Quincy Museum at 217-224-7669 to register your child. Payment is due at the time of registration. Class size is limited to 12 young ladies.

August 4

MidSummer Night Golf Outing

Westview Golf Course

Enjoy an evening of Night Golf at Westview Golf Course in Quincy while benefiting the programs and activities of the Quincy Museum. Golfers will receive 9 holes of flow in the dark golf, cart rental, a barbeque dinner, two glow in the dark golf balls, a glow necklace, door prizes and two free drink tickets. A Silent Auction will also be held.  Prizes will be given for the winning teams.

Don't miss our Golf Cart Decorating Contest! Decorate your golf cart (provided by the course) with lights and other fun decorations and try to win a prize!

Registration is $55 per player. Please contaact the museum to register your team of two.  

If you do not play golf but would like to support the Quincy Museum, you may purchase tickets for the dinner only. You will receive dinner, a chance for a door prize, and the opportunity to bid on some great items at the Silent Auction.

Quincy Museum Folk Life Festival

Noon to 5:00 PM

Join us for our Annual Folk Life Festival! Stroll the beautiful grounds of the Quincy Museum and enjoy a variety of demonstrators, crafters and activities for children. Bring your appetite for our famous Buffalo Sandwiches, our Bake Sale booth and delicious caramel apples and old fashioned bottled soda.

IF YOU ARE A VENDOR AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE YOUR WARES WITH OUR VISITORS, PLEASE CONTACT THE MUSEUM OFFICE! 

$2 Admission charged at the gate.


October 28 to November 24

Quincy Museum Closed for Christmas Decorating

The Museum will be closed to the public while we decorate the Newcomb-Stillwell Mansion for Christmas. During this time, we will still be offering educational classes, and our Museum Office will be open. Speical tours can be scheduled during this time, depending on the availability of the staff. Please call the museum for more information. The museum office will be open from Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.


November 4

Christmas Decorating at the Quincy Museum

9:00 AM till ????

It is a tradition here at the Quincy Museum that staff members and volunteers gather on the first Satuday of November to decorate the museum for Christmas and we would love to have you join us! The fun starts at 9:00 AM, and we will work on decorating the museum until noon. At that time, we take a break and enjoy a delicious carry-in luncheon.

If you would like to join us, give the museum office a call at 217-224-7669 and let us know. When you call, we would also like to know what you would like to bring to share for lunch.

November 30

Member's Only Christmas Party and Silent Auction

6:00 to 8:00 PM

Our annual Members Only Christmas Party welcomes all of our members to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas Season with hors d' oeuvres, champagne and luscious desserts. Guests will be among the first to see the Newcomb-Stillwell Mansion in all of its holiday glory. Join us for a silent auction featuring a wide variety of gift items.


December  5

St Nicholas Eve Party for Children

6:00 PM

Join us in front of a roaring fire as we learn about the historic Saint Nicholas and share stories and songs celebrating the jolly old elf. This event is based on a European tradition in which treats left for St Nicholas' horse on the eve of his special day are replaced by candy and small treats. This is a traditional way to start the holiday season and a great way for your little ones to get a bit of personal time with the jolly old elf.
