Job Title: Executive Director - Quincy Museum


The Quincy Museum is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to fill the position of Executive Director. As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the museum, overseeing its day-to-day operations, and fostering a strong connection with the community. We are looking for an individual with a passion for history, culture, and education, coupled with strong leadership and organizational skills.


  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the museum in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
    • Provide leadership and direction to staff, ensuring alignment with the museum's mission and goals.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Operations Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of museum operations, including exhibitions, programs, events, and visitor services.
    • Manage budgetary responsibilities, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation.
    • Collaborate with curatorial and education teams to enhance the museum's offerings.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including local government, schools, and cultural organizations.
    • Develop and implement outreach programs to enhance the museum's visibility and accessibility.
  • Fundraising and Development:
    • Lead fundraising initiatives and grant applications to secure financial support for the museum.
    • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners to ensure sustainable funding.
    • Recruit, train, schedule and supervise museum volunteers.
  • Educational Initiatives:
    • Collaborate with educational institutions to develop and expand educational programs.
    • Work closely with the education team to create engaging and informative experiences for visitors of all ages.
  • Marketing and Communications:
    • Act as a spokesperson for the museum at public events and in media interactions.
    • Produce promotional materials, newsletters, case presentations, media releases, and correspondence using best practices in text and graphic design.


  • Bachelor's degree in museum studies, history, arts management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in museum leadership or a similar role preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient office and computer skills including ability to work with electronic databases and standard computer applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and grant writing.
  • Passion for preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and organizational development.

Salary and Benefits:  Salary package is $50,000 - $65,000 including a wellness benefit.
